- The Cotons Sense 1 product is highly competitive in technology, incorporating the world's most diverse multi-sensor for signal collection. The sensors used include ballistocardiogram(BCG), electrocardiogram(ECG), phonocardiogram (PCG), photoplethysmography(PPG), 6-axis sensor, sound sensor, and temperature sensor.
1. Ballistocardiogram(BCG): This measures heart rate by converting pressure signals caused by blood movement from heart activity into electrical signals, using a thin film sensor. This BCG sensor is the first in the world developed for pets, improving upon the inconvenience of measuring heart rate through shaving.
2. Electrocardiogram(ECG): This method measures heart rate by utilizing the electrical signals generated from blood movement due to heart activity. Unlike traditional ECG devices that require shaving and direct skin contact, the consortium-developed device uses non-contact sensor (CCECG) technology.
3. Phonocardiogram(PCG): Known as an electronic stethoscope, this method records heart sounds produced during heartbeats to check for valve abnormalities.
4. Photoplethysmography(PPG): This device uses light (LED) to shine on the blood and collects the reflected information to measure data. It is typically used to measure 'oxygen saturation (SpO2)', which is critical for monitoring emergency situations. An oxygen saturation level below 90% usually indicates insufficient oxygen supply to the body, signaling an emergency.
5. 6-axis Sensor (IMU6, Inertial Measurement Unit): This device uses three gyroscopes and three accelerometers to measure behavior and posture changes. For animals, it is utilized to collect various clinical signals. It is commonly used in motion classification and has the advantage of being used regardless of the limitations of video devices like general CCTV. It can detect disease relevance through behavior classification related to defecation/urination and is expected to recognize actions like circling, which is effective in diagnosing dementia in elderly dogs, and lameness caused by joint issues through additional data collection.
6. Sound Sensor: This device collects sound using a MEMS chip. It can be used to detect abnormal conditions early by collecting sounds such as barking, howling, and coughing in pets. It can also be used to collect sounds of eating and drinking. It can be effectively applied in managing noise issues, which often cause conflicts between neighbors in apartment complexes where pets are raised.
7. Temperature Sensor (RTD Sensor): The product line includes a sensor for measuring temperature, aimed at detecting temperature changes. Since many diseases in pets, similar to humans, are accompanied by fever symptoms, monitoring temperature changes helps in tracking fever conditions.
